The Edge

Harsh thoughts for 6 students out of the 60 at Okino aside, it was a day that could be best summed up with the image, feeling or mental picture of standing on a cliff, in the sun, enjoying the rush of the air and the sense that somehow, after travelling for a long time, you're at this point where you can just *enjoy*.  I was thinking of some of the places near Portrush in Northern Ireland.  Nothing but the rush of the sea breeze and the sound of waves.  Very like the ambience from that awesome game called Ico on the Playstation.

("wait a minute" I hear one saying.. "cliff edges?!"  No it's not some weird suicide fantasy!)

So it was that today is the final day of teaching until April, in Okino and Nagai koko.

And just as it finished I suddenly feel a mite confident, dare I say it, in how I do at the job.  Not stellar, I'm sure a Super-ALT would have managed to corale the students into successfully finishing the Election activity on time, but I'm happier with it.

I headed back to Nagai at 11:30 to start giving out the jump shots to students.  I amde them the day before, in a secluded physics lab, with my trust S2 camera on self timer and me equiped with chalk and my jumping legs.  Scrawled stuff on the board between pictures, unique to each student.  Didn't take as long as I, or others, had assumed it would.  Got it all done in an hour for 30 students.

Awesome fun to be had.

I got back and looked for students but was sad to see that most of them had already gone home!  i managed to see a handful, as it turned out the ones I liked the most, and gave them their personal jump shot pic/message from me.

Very sad to say "good bye and good luck" to them.  Actually felt the very smallest of watery eyes starting, but I had to be strong so I smiled and shook their hands.

Need to go back tomorrow and give the others the rest of the pics.  Looking forward to it and seeing them at least one more time before Graduation.
