Weekend Hurrahs

Saturday

There was snow festival fun in Yonezawa with Kim, Alda and Monique.  Manys a "Inst-Pose" picture of me were taken.  Which are now on Facebook being commented on I'm sure.  Taiko was cool, sideways action does indeed look very cool.  HUGE bloody bangs before it from some guns.  Other gaijin there too.  Went to dinner wit Fumi and some other Japanese friends.   Dexter was photograghed doing all sorts of crazy things.  Went to karaoke afterward where my lack of any practice left me unable to even moderately approximate "singing".  Got better right at the end though.  Alda was awesome on the solo song she did.

Went to sleep extremely late as I was watching Battlestar Galactica.  Not sure if they're jumping the shark but the whole Final Five back story isn't being explored right somehow.  It feels both rushed as well as unnecessarily mysterious.  They've only got 4 or 5 episodes left so it smacks of stupid cliffhanger revelations pacing.  Which means we may learn some interesting stuff, but in the final hour of the show and so no time to see them grow.  They'll just be like so many scifi revelations; meant to attention grab but completely fail to stand up to scrutiny.   I mean alreay the whole Ellen being alive and Cavil taking his revenge against the Final Five is... well absurd.  Especially given all the times he could have interacted with them or tortured them some more.  Urgh.

So it was good to finally get some answers, but like so much scifi nowadays, it smacks of being written on the hoof, with its shock value being considered first and foremost over actual story merit or, heck, common sense within the universe they created.

My last thought is that its changed so much from the show it was; about survival and gritty realism.  The same guy was responsible, in part, for Voyager.  That show too lost its focus on the survival element of the plot.  Maybe it's down to Wonder Boy R. Moore.

Sunday>hr>
Skiing on Zao.  Slushy snow, difficult to make my turns and parallel or even carving turns.  Urgh.  Lame!

Nice cafe on along the road.  Damn expensive tho!  My ninja spot is closed for business.  Had not one, not two but THREE signs on my car.  As if his rage would only be sated with lots of wasted paper fluttering in the wind on my car.

I saw them, quickly picked them off and started to take off the ski stuff and pack everything up.  Disgruntled Japanese Man appears and started talking in Japanese, that I can sort of understand until he starts asking about "3-nin" and "3-kai".   Unless he's talking about his sexual fantasy (3 people, 3 times) I was a bit lost.

Not being a police officer I didn't have to hide my Japanese, though I held back a little in case it would help playing the gaijin card.

I got fucking tired of his endless wittering.  Not content making himself misunderstood he seemed intent on not letting me get the fuck on with just getting the fuck out.

"Fuck you, Little Man" I thought to myself after the THIRD time I said in Japanese "Here isn't OK.  I understand.  I'm sorry.  I will not park here.  Now I will go.  i'm sorry".

Still the same bullshit spilled forth from him.  Endlessly.  With disgruntled little grunts under his breath.  Urgh.  Basically started to ignore him as I started packing things away regardless of the fucker.  OKay I was trespassing on his sacred family land, hard won in the Samurai wars of 1480 and defended to the death since then.  I get that.  So please fuck up and let me get the fuck away instead of babbling angrily.

The Annoying Little Man fucks off eventually and I move my car 50m up the road to the paid parking area, now free for night skiing.  Go to cafe and then we come back and go.

Zao is a bitch to park a car.

My cinema opens.  the new massive TV from Kim is awesome.  Watched Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.  My apartment had 5 people in it... FIVE.  I was overwhelmed.  Kept wondering if the floor could withstand it.  There was delcious cake (from Wagner, so it was Germanic in some way), candy floss, and popcorn!  Popcorn making was awesome.

Gotta do it again, for the Nagai folks.  Maybe a pyjama party too?  Actually, I have a strange hope that I can get everyone in Nagai and Alda and Monique to all go to Cocoas and have late night pyjama party drink bar.  I have no idea why this is a burning desire of mine.

Could be more peeps sure. But it was just a movie last night. Nothing else planned.

Maybe if we do Cocoas pyjama party afterward then that'd be worth coming all the way here.
