We're learning a new awesome song which has a lot more movement than ever before. It's like a boot camp version of taiko. Jumping, spinning, exaggerated arm movements. Even got the thudding beat to keep us going.
Must learn peeps names in taiko group. I get by just raising my voice in the general direction of peeps. I think my brain is stressed enough trying to remember the new lines of song that we do; that's why nothing else 'gets in'.
And WHAT a new song. Awesome amounts of stuff to do. At first it was fairly quick. we learnt the first third pretty quickly. It felt like such an achievement but watching it back it seems really easy! And then we learnt a crazy middle part and again now that we've kinda mastered it it actually isn't as hard as it first seemed!
Doesn't mean though I will make a spectacular fuck up were I to perform it cold. But since I don't look at the song at all until the next practice I'm surprised by how quick me and Chryssy are able to get it down in the heat of practice. In no small part is that helped by abusing our thighs as we silently beat out the rythm in between run throughs.
I try to add a system to the beats so that I don't have to remember as much. So one section I've dubbed "the Turn" (hmm, reminds me of The Prestige. Awesome movie). So when I see it or realise it's coming up I don't have to remember so much, I just do an automatic series of moves and I'm piroting like a friggin' ballerina, lol
It helps me be less retarded
